Obituary of William A. Fluck

 


 William A. Fluck, 72, of Poughkeepsie, NY passed away on May 3, 2024, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, surrounded by those he loved. He was born on November 17, 1951, in Plainview, New Jersey to the late Robert R. and Betty L. (Lippman) Fluck Sr.
Bill was a Dutchess County resident all of his life, graduating from Arlington High School and SUNY Oswego. He proudly served the County of Dutchess with the the Department of Probation for 37 years, retiring as Deputy Director in April 2012.
He was a member of the Rochdale Fire Department, Arlington Station 4, Hudson River Rowing Association, Poughkeepsie ELKS #275 and the Lions Club.
Bill enjoyed biking, reading, scuba diving, and boating. He loved traveling and the place closest to his heart was Camp Wulamat on Newfound Lake in Bristol, New Hampshire, where he never missed a summer in 72 years.
Bill is survived by his wife Patricia Mensler, as well as his daughter, Jennifer Fluck (Harry Ocasio) and grandson Austin of Pleasant Valley, NY; step-daughter Julia Demboski and grandson Brody of Poughkeepsie, NY; step-son Brian Demboski of New York, NY, and son Matthew (Erin) and grandchildren Liam, Barrett, and Sloane of Manchester, New Hampshire. He is also survived by his brother Bradley (Bonnie) in Pitman, NJ and several nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his brother Robert R. Fluck Jr.
The family would like to thank all of his doctors, nurses and other medical providers who were with us throughout this journey.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, May 9 from 4pm - 7pm at the Pirate Canoe Club, 140 Rivercrest Rd, Poughkeepsie, NY.
